Description

Every engineer and producer knows Reverb can make or break your professional audio recording or live performance results. Of course, how much and what type of reverb is still a matter of choice and imaginationand thanks to Behringer, your choices just got broader. Since the ’90s, genuine spring tank reverb modules have become steadily more difficult (and expensive) to acquireuntil now. The Behringer 646 Spring Reverb module delivers you to a time before digital reverb modules and plug-ins have all but replaced analog and mechanical reverb devices.

The Behringer 646 Spring Reverb Module is a mechanical spring reverb tank that accurately reproduces the sound, straightforward operation, and unique side effects from a vintage example. It’s based on the highly revered Grampian Type 636 reverb tankthe secret ingredient of Rock bands like the Who and Dub pioneers like Lee Scratch Perrygenuine spring reverb has never been so affordable.

On the inside, a pair of mechanical springs provide the unmistakable sound of analog-era reverb, instantly adding a new dimension to your digital reverb arsenal. The 646 can produce a wide range of textures, from small to large hall room emulations through lush, soaking wet reverb with a total decay time of up to 2 seconds. Additionally, the 646 preamp is loved for its warmth and power, which can be pushed into overdrive for genuine Analog girth and punch that needs to be heard to be believed.

The control panel is sparse and straightforward, with a single reverberate knob for regulating the wet/dry signal and the total amount of reverb. A separate mic and line control knobs regulate the amount of signal, and the amount of overdrive clipping on each channel, with an overload indicator light for visual reference. Each channel has two inputs (high or low) on the line/Aux channel and balanced or unbalanced inputs for the mic channel. Individual channel inputs, plus a jack for remote reverb mute, are doubled on the top and back panels for easy access as a standalone desktop module–or seamlessly integrated into Eurorack systems. Outstanding for vocals, complete mixing, adding atmosphere to synths/keyboards, and especially for authentic surf and 60s-sounding electric guitar tracksthe Behringer 646 offers natural analog era reverb in a versatile, easy-to-use package for less than you’d expect to pay for a simple stomp box.
